Taichung Day 8

 I got up early today so I can try make it there around 7am to help out at 小舅媽's stall. Cause it was so early, and I feel like I slept lightly (cause you know you need to wake up early), I felt a bit nauseous so couldn't really eat that much for breakfast. Damn my yoghurt tasted good though. I had a seasame bun, and half my lemon cake. 

It's just a tad cool to be in shorts, but it's nice. I cycled gently and tried not to over exert myself to risk a blood sugar crash since I didn't have that much to eat. I arrived around quarter past seven, and they were already busy as. 三舅媽 showed me how to fry their eggs, and wow the gas stove is so hot and the oil splatters everywhere (it's more like shallow deep fry egg). I got burnt from the oil on my knuckle.... and my eggs weren't pretty and the flame was a bit hard to control. Otherwise I went to take empty dishes and washed dishes most of the time. When the big bro that usually helps out came he fried most of the eggs since he was better at them. I think a customer complained about an egg I fried but 三舅媽 told them that it's from a newbie and not to complain and eat, lol. Thanks auntie :') There were also heaps of yam leaves that I cut the stems off and then helped wash them partially when big bro needed to fry eggs. 

三舅媽 fed me around 9am, and there was a brief respite from the ongoing stream of customers. I had essentially lunch, and wasn't that hungry but managed to finish it. 三舅 and 三舅媽 both asked me if the zhachai was good. Of course!! 三舅 said he chopped it and spent a lot of effort on it. I said that's why it tastes so good. He also said to let 姨媽 know he said hi and that it's so hard for him to leave the business as it's so busy. I said of course I will.

The customers just kept coming and I heard multiple times from 三舅媽 and 三舅 telling the customers to wait a bit before they took their order. They are soooooo busy. Whatever they told me I could help with I would - bring the red tea to refill the dispenser. Bring more eggs. Get extra stools. Etc. By the time they were able to wrap up it was later than usual, like maybe 12:30pm? I left just after 1pm. I think around 11am the usual helper was able to come (they have 3 kids and they can't just leave the kids alone). They fried eggs and helped do orders and stuff. Their eggs are so pretty. Man my legs were pretty sore at the end. It was also good that the black tshirt from the funeral was able to come in handy because I got so much oil on it.

I bid 三舅媽 and 三舅 goodbye and told them I'll come visit before I head back to NZ. I cycled back slowly on a Ubike and then just pooped potato on the couch when home. Finished my half pomelo and had a mandarin. 二叔 has the TV on LS Movie channel 龍祥時代電影台. It started playing 猛鬼入侵黑社會 (My Flying Wife), which was pretty interesting - I looked up the title and it's got Sammo Hung in it. Ah that's why. xD  Prior to that it was playing a 1992 film 笑傲江湖 2 which I saw the last part of. 二叔 left to have Starbucks with Joy's auntie at 3:30pm.

I was so tired but 猛鬼入侵黑社會  was really interesting and kept me awake. When the film finished I surfed the net for a bit but was still so smashed. My tummy was a bit upset/indigestion since I had fried shallots for lunch.... I really think this is the culprit for my indigestion. I just had a bowl of Wei-Lih Jajianmen and then had a snooze for about an hour at 6pm. Woke up a bit groggy but after that passed I felt way better. Took a shower, 二叔 came back not long after, and then had a bit of the frozen 釋迦 which we frozen cause it was too ripe. It's kinda nice like ice cream. 

Wrote some postcards, and blogged. Gonna sleep now. Plan to head to Taipei tomorrow.
