Taiwan Day 28 (Taipei 5)

Today I woke up later cause I stayed up so late last night. 姨媽 got me a club sandwich and a milk tea. 3Q.

I sorted out the parcel of stuffs to send back to Taichung and also went out to get a mailing tube for Lake's stuff. I went to the same tint post shop and ended up buying a plastic tube for paintings for $140. Repacking ended up taking a while but I got all 3 things inside (poster, desk mat, teaspoon).

Then I went down to the post office and sorted it the parcels... I ended up putting the wrong info into the Ezpost and had to do it again. I got there though. Once that was printed, it was $318 for sending to Mexico for a 487g item. Registered. So cheap!

My parcel to Taichung cost like $80.

I bought a couple of stamps and then went back home to complete the postcards.

姨媽 made me some leftover fools sauce noodles with 山東醋 and the bottle she has is from 2008. It's vintage now... There's still a little left.

After that and a cup of tea, it's time to go to CKS Memorial Hall and finally tick this off the list.

I took a bus there and got off at the MRT station stop. I went down to get the stamp.

Then back up and went to 7-11 and bought a bottle of water. It was only $12 for Uni water... Dafuq so cheap.

I entered via the side gate/entrance and walked through the gardens and arrived at the steps with Scott 10 mins to spare before the next change of guards. There are a lot of Koreans around me.

The change happened and the guards are well disciplined and rehearsed. Respect.

Then I went up the steps and had a look at the Hall with the statue. Soon I asked a staff there where I can get memorial stamps and started my quest. There are 4 in total. He told me to take the elevator down to 1F.

So I did. At least the stands with the stamps are easy to spot with purple signage. I confirmed with an info desk lady and she told me they are outside the shops and in purple.

After I got the straps I browsed the shops. I found one of them selling the washi tape from the Tile Museum! So I bought one. Now I can stick that really soft postcard with another one as send as 1 card.

I browsed most of the shops but couldn't find anything quite suitable for Bridget.

It was about 5mins till 5pm and I headed out to see the change of guards again. I had 1 more shop to go. As I was leaving, three guards were walking out too.

I walked in front so I wouldn't get in their way.

There were way more people this time. The changed guards and performance, so we'll rehearsed and in sync.

Then two guards went directly down and the usher told people to move like Moses parted the sea. The guards walked to the flag and got into position, waited for 5:10pm before starting the flag ceremony and folded the flag super neatly into a pole, before leaving.

I took a few photos around, and some nui photos, and headed back to the last shop. They had some paper DIY kits of plants and a few more different stuff. I ended up getting 2 kits ($280 each) and thought it would be a good warm up inspo for Bridget's garden project.

After that, I found a bench outside and sat down for like 10 mins for a rest. I didn't get to the art exhibit. Ah well. Then the mozzies came so I left and decided to head home. On the way I decided to get some cakes from the pastry shop that I passed on the way here. I thought I got marble cake but it's actually cheesecake. Lol. Oh well I hope 姨媽 likes it!

I got home just after 7:30pm and had dinner. Mmmmm how does 姨媽 make these porkchops so good.

The cheesecake ($60 ea) really wasn't sweet at all and the crust has a slight salty taste which was pretty good.

I finished off my postcards in the evening and slept around 11pm which is much better than last night!!
